Linus should focus more on environmental concerns while using technology. He can install solar panels in his new house to set off the carbon footprint and focus towards a carbon neutral lifestyle, if not carbon negative because being a tech enthusiast a lot of energy is used in powering the electronics. He should use the in-floor heating and air conditioning using green energy. This will not only help the environment today but also set an example in the whole IDport community Linus Tech Tips being a major channel with several sister channels. He can do the whole thing DIY which keeps up with his open source motto and may take help of Brian, the Electrician. A video series on this may eventually lead to net zero on very less cost on Linus' part and be a great motivation towards green technology. Lets not forget that Linus brought the new house for his kids and he should also ensure that they have a safe and healthy future. "With great power comes great responsibility" ~ Peter Parker

For the home theater you should do a 90s style one. Dropdown ceiling, with projector, and etc. Also I think it would be cool if you used speakers from an ACTUAL movie theater, and not the ones for home theaters. Like some JBL 8340s. Those I find are really nice especially if you fine tune them with a 31 band EQ. You can get those used on EBay since JBL doesn’t make them anymore. But keep your original cooling system! (As In the condenser and coil). That has R-22 in it which is far better at cooling then the new 410A crap. I like the zone damper idea though, nice way to modernize it! Also I love the whole house water cooling idea! Someday when I have a house built I wanna do that for my sever room. That would be so cool!

One big thing that can get overlooked in a theater room, sometimes. Is the different rows of seating need to be at different heights. Otherwise people in the back of the room Will not be able to see the TV, because the people in the front room will be blocking them. Probably something you already thought of, but that’s just a big pet peeve of mine.

Definitely recommend checking out the guys at dreammedia on IDport for some ideas for your theater. We have recently finished our theater that has a outlaw amp and we are still looking for a receiver that meets our needs. We have planned for a 11.2 setup. So far we are working with a 7.1 and prepping for the upgrade to 11.2. I really recommend planning before drywall/other furnishing to maximize your options. Having the separated amp allows for a feeling of a powerful sound stage. It really increases the movie watching experience! I have always trusted Axiom for my speakers and have had a great experience with mine so far. We have the m80s as our sound stage. Anyways be sure to explore your options and make sure to plan ahead for upgrades or changes. Great video Linus!

I just have one suggestion about the tv. First before you mount the tv. Put the couch or favourite chair in the position you want. The get in you comfortable in the chair. Now do you have to raise your had to watch tv You might want to mount the tv a little higher over the fireplace. Easier on your neck just add a nice pillow You get more wall space. There is nothing above the fireplace anway You can also hide the tv with a picture the rolls down when your not watching tv. Something like a screen saver idea. I would attach a picture if I could to give you an idea Just think of watching tv at a hotel you lying on the bed and the tv is at your feet. You get pain in the neck and wish it was higher It is just an idea. I have it done in my house

One potential idea for the home theater setup could be to set the movie screen up higher at an angle, like how renaissance era theater stages where setup. The reason for that is the public can be on flat ground, but could back stage through multiple rows of people.

For the theater room: You have an amazing room with incredible potential! Don't waste that potential with a TV! Go acoustically transparent screen and a projector! Since I'm assuming budget isn't a huge issue with that room, I'd spec a 9.4.6 setup for that room. Talk to @Youthman for any home theater related questions! Maybe do a collab video with him! Here's what I'd start looking at as a starting point: Speakers: For the absolute best of the best, get a 9.x.6 wisdom audio speaker setup. Go with JTR subs if you go that route though. For a great experience, get JTR speakers for a 9.4.6 setup. Make sure you get four subs, one in each corner, as corner loading subs creates the best response. Processing: You have the money, so go all out with a Trinnov Processor for the theater. Trinnov has some amazing technicians. They can help you with the installation and room calibration. If that's too expensive, go Emotiva or Marantz. Most of these should have RS232 control to integrate with crestron if you decide to go that route. Projector: I'd go with the JVC DLA-NX9 or the NX7 projector Amplification: If you go with the wisdom speaker setup, get Wisdom audio amps, are they are tailored to work best with their speakers. If you go JTR, I'd still get a Trinnov Processor, but perhaps to save some money, go with Cherry, Marantz, or Emotiva for Amplification Acoustic Panels: GIK acoustics makes affordable panels, but I'm sure if Trinnov is installing the system, they will recommend something higher end. They know their stuff, so you wouldn't have to worry about that if they are involved. Subs: Again, JTR is the best of the best, go with them.

Or maybe just a screen that’s displaying a home assistant dashboard that you can control the climate with using a smart valve on all of the radiant heating valves. Then you just have a screen or tablet mounted to the wall that you can turn on and off the heating for that zone. Then just use a zigbee controller to control the Ac system, then use home assistant to tie it together. Hope that helps.

Honey well redlink thermostats and zone boards might work. The only issue with that is that I don't believe they have battery version of the wifi one however. But honest best option is run new wire which would require drywall repair but a lot more options. Lastly not heating and cooling individual rooms can actually cause a loss of efficiency due to the thermal load of that room not being accounted for in the heat load. (Also there is not usually insulation in Between interior walls. Lastly under sizing duct ( in your case cutting off unused rooms) can cause a loss off efficiency and a system malfunction.

Can't help with the infloor heating but to help cool the furnace room and stuff I'd recommend going with hybrid-hot water tanks instead of the gas ones there. The hybrid hot water heaters (Rheem makes some) use a heat pump to scavenge heat from the room they're in in order to heat the water for the house so if you have servers throwing off extra heat it would be a perfect and energy efficient setup! They're like electric hot water heaters but way more efficient and not that much more expensive. They are called "hybrid" because while the heat pump is the main source of heat, they can use conventional electric heat as a backup if they need to. If you have a room with extra heat in it anyway then it makes a lot of sense to use that waste heat to heat up your water.
