The Apple M1 is the fastest, most efficient CPU on the planet. The only thing M1 does not excel at is heavy multi-threading because of its heterogeneous core layout. Linus, you foolishly ignore Apple and dismiss them as money-hungry nutjobs in your effort to continue relentlessly bashing Intel and proclaiming that AMD is the best. Admit your defeat, Linus. With the new age of computing ushered in by M1, PC building is officially dead unless you want to be stuck with last-generation performance. Your blatant fanboying for AMD has blinded you from the truth: M1 is the best and is here to stay, and the industry will be moving in that direction.

@ron at mollies liqour Its btw your own fault if you buy modern Intels, brandnew ;) I got my 4790k used for 130$ in 2016 (same for many other parts as reaction to overpriced garbage) right before prices began to rise even faster than before. A friend bought at the same time a 7th gen i7, 300$, so about 2,2x the price of my used 4th gen. By (re)using my 2400MHz Kit and OC to 2666MHz and 4,8GHz on the 4790k it was as fast as a modern i7 for much less than half the price. Still running fine today, this system. Only useless since i sold my GPU (for a higher price i paid brandnew, LOL!) If you keep in mind, this 4790k is probably only 10-20% slower than a 10700k in real life usage, in benchmarks probably also 30%+, i dont see any sense in buying nowadays any CPU or GPU. Luckily i can wait for at least RTX 4000 cards and Ryzen 6000 and Intel 12/13th gen. Im looking into a "budget" build with "lower end" parts like a 4060(Ti), hopefully better than 3070(Ti) at least and any modern midclass CPU. Should work fine for a few years and hopefully for a much better price.

  92. Kokainarienv0gel

    Kokainarienv0gel7 hari yang lalu

@ron at mollies liqour " the most expensive ryzen 5000 i could fine was 275$" Ahh, so the 5600(x)? Before i would get a 5600x i would get a used, fair priced 3700x/3800/3900 ;) Only the 5800(x)+ make sense, and these are 400$/€ or more.

  93. Kokainarienv0gel

    Kokainarienv0gel7 hari yang lalu

@ron at mollies liqour Ofc my i7 from 2014 is already "weak" compared to all these 10core+ CPUs, but its still in 2021 okay for any competetive game in 120fps+ and in the worst case it delivers "only" 60fps+ in anyways not depending games where consoleros even have to deal with 30fps. I will use this DDR3 system aslong DDR5 is affordable and "ahead" of DDR4 systems. Only take for example the old server machines.... the xeon based on haswell, the haswell E and other server CPUs, used with quad channel DDR3 RAM it even outperformed most newer DDR4 systems, but the price for the ECC sticks and the "weak" singlecore performance due lower clocks, these days the best budget option 2nd hand to even outperform nonK i7s for a cheaper price and even having more cores.

  94. ron at mollies liqour

ron at mollies liqour7 hari yang lalu

@Kokainarienv0gel bro the most expensive ryzen 5000 i could fine was 275$ my intel i7 10700k was 400$.

  95. Kokainarienv0gel

    Kokainarienv0gel7 hari yang lalu

@ron at mollies liqour where i should move on? Ryzen 5000 is overpriced (at least in europe), Ryzen 3000 is as good (or worse...) as my (OLD INTEL!) system and a very affordable option like ryzen 2000 is worse than my Intel i7. So where to move on? I move on Ryzen 6000/7000 or Intel 12/13/14th gen and DDR5.

I would love one of these chips for my research ;-) I recently did get a 32 core Epyc with both 512GB RAM and a 3090, so that's nice, and the fact that we are limited to 1Gb/s bandwith to our servers is often a larger problem ;-( Anyways, having one of these chips would probably take some of my computations to something I need to be careful and thoughtful when doing, to something were I could better play around with the parameters, which would be cool. But I think I'd rather have a 2--4 TB RAM machine, that is going to be way more important for us in the future 8-)

20 years ago I had a dual Pentium Pro 233MHz with 6 SCSI setup, at the time it was pretty powerful and nice to see the muscle it showed in Linux compiles and such compared to typical consumer CPU's at the time. I would love to have something like this just to watch it flex its muscles in some applications, I'm mainly a gamer so this CPU would be useless and a big fat waste of money.
